Călimănești – the jewel of the Târnava Mică Valley
As the last village in the historical MureÈ™ Seat, CălimăneÈ™ti (in Hungarian: Kelementelke) is the jewel of the picturesque hills of the Târnavei Mici Valley, which received its name from the landowner Botos Kelemen. The town was first mentioned with this name in 1498, but it had to wait more than a hundred years to gain its historical notoriety, until 1605, when, at the borders of CălimăneÈ™ti, support for the Bocskai uprising was stated.
-
In 1944, battles took place here, witnessed by the graves of soldiers who fell in the line of duty.
-
In 1852, the botanist Lajos Gönczy was born here, and the renowned ornithologist Lázár Kálmán is also buried here.

WINE REGION

Wine region
It is one of the most important wine-growing regions in Transylvania, and perhaps in Romania. The location of the hills with special shapes is particularly favorable for the cultivation of vines, and local farmers have used this advantage for centuries. This is how CălimăneÈ™ti became the last village in the Târnava Mica valley where vines are grown. The region gained its reputation thanks to its white wines. Of these, the most famous is Feteasca Regală, which incorporates all the characteristics of this rural area, and which continues to be produced today using traditional methods. Therefore, it is not surprising that this wine was chosen as the symbol of our winery.

ROYAL GIRL

Royal Girl
The fame of this friendly wine is due to several reasons. Its taste bears the identity of the region, the splendor of the hills and the special kindness of the locals. All these details leave their mark on the wine obtained from the highest quality grapes, from which we produce and bottle more than 2000 liters annually. Our goal is for viticulture and winemaking to regain its past reputation, to become the main occupation of the locals again and, first of all, for the production method and the fame of Fetească Regală wine to be closely linked to the attractions of the village and this wonderful region.
